CMA is a growing mobile marketing agency that’s been in the app space since 2016. Since its start in 2016, CMA has grown to a team of nearly 30 people. As the company grew, so did the complexity of their IT needs - but with no dedicated IT person, they found things were getting out of hand.

For a long time, CMA handled their IT internally, relying on “more technically minded” members of the team. This worked for a while, but without proper processes in place, it was inefficient and time-consuming.
This ad-hoc approach to IT became especially tricky when people were on leave or holiday - there was no one left to fix problems or troubleshoot when things went wrong.
As Bun puts it, “It wasn’t really part of their job description, and it started to interfere with their main responsibilities. It just wasn’t sustainable."
As a smaller team, hiring a full-time IT person didn’t make sense financially - so they decided to look for an outsourced solution.
The initial conversation
After reviewing several suppliers, CMA found Hexagon IT. Bun noted that her first conversation was with CEO, Steve Barnett. “He was great. You can tell that he cares tremendously about not only his business, but the business of others”. After that initial conversation, it was clear that Hexagon ticked all the boxes CMA was looking for.
Bun recalled, "When we first met with Steve, he really understood our business and our pain points. He wasn’t just trying to sell us a service; he listened. What really sealed the deal was how flexible Steve was in tailoring the contract to our needs."
As a small business, CMA was hesitant about going into a long-term IT contract - but many companies refused to budge on their set time scales. Understanding the concerns of a small business, Hexagon IT agreed to include an early break clause, which meant CMA felt confident to take that first step - and haven’t looked back since!
The solution
Right off the bat, Hexagon IT took on all of CMA’s existing systems - and the transition was “surprisingly seamless”.
Bun noted that “they took a really diligent approach. They didn’t come in all guns blazing, trying to reinvent the wheel” - instead, they took the time to understand how CMA worked and then provided the exact support they needed. After completing a "hygiene check" on their current system, they were also able to offer advice on how to improve their security and IT efficiency, offering an extra level of reassurance.
Beyond the basics, Hexagon provided ongoing 24/7 support. No more worrying about team members being on holiday - Hexagon had them covered. “Having that peace of mind that someone’s always there to help, no matter what, made a huge difference,” Bun says.
Where it had previously been near-impossible to prioritise IT issues, Hexagon brought in a ticketing system which meant any IT issues were logged and tracked (which can help in detecting patterns or future issues before they start). “Now we can track everything, see what the issues are, and fix things much more efficiently.”
The results
With Hexagon managing everything from system security and new starter set-up, to the day-to-day IT niggles, CMA was able to run a more efficient, stress-free operation.
The partnership was focused on streamlining operations, improving security, and making sure the whole team could focus on what they do best, without having to worry about tech issues. With Hexagon’s help, CMA’s security processes were tightened, their IT issues were dealt with promptly, and the team were never slowed down by tech problems.
“Having a dedicated outsourced IT team means there’s always support, no matter what. And it’s just really nice to know we can reach out and have someone there,” Bun says.

Bun admits they were initially a bit nervous about outsourcing such a crucial function like IT. "It can be scary handing over your entire IT system to someone outside your business, especially when you’re a smaller company," she says. "But Hexagon has been on top of everything. We’ve never once thought we made a mistake in choosing them."
Bun especially appreciated the patience and support from Steve’s team: “I’m not the most technical human on the planet, and sometimes I’d feel a bit lost trying to manage IT stuff on top of everything else. Steve and his team were absolute lifesavers. They’ve been so patient with me, especially when I ask what I think are pretty silly questions!”
